About Selaine Saxby

It has been an honour to have been elected by the people of North Devon to serve as their Member of Parliament between December 2019 and July 2024.

I come from a family of teachers and am passionate about access to education and ensuring all children receive an excellent one. My father was Head of a large coastal comprehensive and I am mostly state school educated myself, with a first from Cambridge University.

I ran my own online business for many years and founded and ran Pink Aerobics from 2003-2013, which raised over £500K for breast cancer charities through a series of aerobathons.

In Parliament, I was elected to be a member of the Work and Pensions Select Committee, looking into the policies and spending of the Department for Work and Pensions, including benefits for people in and out of work, state pensions, and how private pensions are regulated.

I was also elected Chair of five All Party Parliamentary Groups, and Vice Chair of ten.
