“I am delighted to see that government investment in Barnstaple has seen the opening of the changing places facility, as well as assisted with the new public toilets at the Pannier Market. Toilets are vital to the success of town centres, and tourist hotspots alike.
I was very fortunate to visit the Croyde changing places facility which linked to the Wave Project enables so many more people with complex needs to be able to access our beautiful beaches and enjoy the surf.
I very much hope the importance of public toilets is fully recognised in Barnstaple and the bus station facilities are reopened rapidly. Whilst these new facilities are warmly welcomed, having public toilets at the point of arrival and departure in town is vital. With government supporting buses with the £2 fare extended until the end of October, it is disappointing that our councils are moving so slowly in reopening these important facilities, encouraging bus usage and supporting our vital bus services.”
