The new measures announced by the Government are significant, and based on the escalating situation in London. They are needed to save lives and protect the NHS. Please follow the Government guidelines which are being updated daily.
This guidance is for everyone. It advises on social distancing measures we should all be taking to reduce social interaction between people in order to reduce the transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19). It is intended for use in situations where people are living in their own homes, with or without additional support from friends, family and carers.
The Government are now advising those who are at increased risk of severe illness from coronavirus (COVID-19) to be particularly stringent in following social distancing measures.
- Self-isolate for 14 days if you or anyone in your home has coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms. If you live alone and have these symptoms, you should self-isolate for 7 days.
- Avoid non-essential travel and gatherings.
- Remember, wash your hands with soap and water often, and for at least 20 SECONDS.
Britain will get through this - but we've got to work together.
With this in mind, I am calling on all local councils and community groups to come together to ensure we support our local community. Each village and town needs a coordinated approach to ensure that residents are able to receive the supplies and support they need. I will be working closely with local groups to facilitate this as well as circulating all the advice and support that is coming through from Westminster and my website www.selainesaxby.org.uk is being regularly updated with new information.
