Local MP, Selaine Saxby has launched an online survey to better understand how local residents feel about tourism restarting this summer here in North Devon.
The quick survey is available on Selaine’s website in the Coronavirus section ( https://www.selainesaxby.org.uk/north-devon-tourism-survey).
Selaine said of the initiative:
I am aware how vital tourism is to our local economy, which is why I signed a letter with 84 other Conservative MPs this week to the Chancellor asking for additional support for our tourism businesses. I am also aware that here in North Devon we have a very low rate of infection, which has been achieved by us all staying at home, and not welcoming visitors at this time.
I very much see my role as MP at representing the views of the people of North Devon. Last week I met with a number of tourism businesses to understand their views, and in addition to the letter to the Chancellor have written to the Tourism Minister to raise their views. However, for tourism to work well here, we as a community need to welcome visitors back, and this is what my survey is designed to get a feel for.
I recognise it is not going to give a full picture, but it gives an indication, and the more people that complete it the more relevant it will be. If anyone has further views they would like to share with me, they can email me at any time, [email protected].
