Selaine Saxby MP met with local social enterprise, Parracombe Community Trust, during an event in Westminster and welcomed Dawn from Sandy Cove Hotel to MPHERoes event.
Selaine met Annie Constable, Director of Parracombe Community Trust ahead of Social Enterprise Day at the event in Westminster where Business and Trade Minister, Kevin Hollinrake spoke about the importance of social enterprise.
Selaine welcomed the Leader of the House, Penny Mordaunt, to Parracombe Community Trust in February of this year after raising the project at Business Questions. There are more than 100,000 social enterprises in the UK contributing an estimated £60 billion annually to the economy and employing around two million people. New figures from Social Enterprise UK show that UK social enterprises generate £1.2 billion profit, meaning they can reinvest £1 billion to help people and profit.
In the same week, Selaine also welcomed Dawn from Sandy Cove Hotel to the to the MP HERoes event in partnership with Natwest to celebrate businesswomen owners across the UK. This comes ahead of Small Business Saturday on the 2nd December of this year where Selaine will be visiting local businesses in North Devon.
