Selaine Saxby, MP for North Devon and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Broadband and Digital Communication met with AllPoints Fibre, formally Jurassic to discuss and welcome their transition into a wholesaler.
Selaine also welcomes BDUK’s latest announcement to review their decision to remove voucher eligibility for those that had previously received subsidy through the Superfast scheme delivering fixed wireless access.
Following the review, BDUK will open eligibility to vouchers where Superfast scheme build phase is complete, including where fixed wireless access has been delivered and where voucher requests meet all other eligibility criteria. BDUK are working to amend the voucher eligibility to reflect this decision and will confirm in a future bulletin when the changes will go live in the funding platform. This will mean that customers who currently receive wireless superfast broadband will, if eligible, be able to access vouchers through Project Gigabit for a fixed Fibre to the Premise solution.
Local MP, Selaine Saxby said:
“I met with AllPoints Fibre, formally Jurassic, to discuss their transition into a wholesaler and the importance of digital inclusion for our local communities. Broadband has significantly increased; before I was elected, gigabit broadband in March 2019 was 3%, March 2024, it was 54%. Whilst superfast access is now 94.2%, up from 90.3% in December 2019.
“Do check what speed you have available to your home, as things have changed drastically in the last 5 years. Whilst I know there are still broadband issues, we have made tremendous progress and I am glad that BDUK has now reviewed its decision on the broadband voucher scheme and open eligibility to vouchers where Superfast scheme build phase is complete in such as places in Exmoor.”
