I am delighted for the people of Westacott and Whiddon Valley as a whole, that North Devon Council have decided not to sell Westacott Park. The council will now need to seriously consider the potential access through Castle Park to enable this perfectly reasonable housing development to go ahead. This comes on top of the very welcome news that Mannings Pit has been bought and preserved by the community
It is with schemes like this and the controversial Yelland Quay development where more thought and engagement is needed with the public before they go into the Local Plan. We do need to build homes, affordable homes for local people, but they need to be where constituents need them and where they do not overly impact on existing, much loved public green spaces.
Thank you to all those who have campaigned for many years to Save Westacott Park
