“I warmly welcome this U turn, whilst economically it was a small part of the measures announced, it was entirely the wrong thing to do. I remain concerned by some of the other measures that may still be planned to pay for the mini budget, not to mention the lack of OBR forecast. We all want to see growth and the tax burden reduced, but I hope that colleagues both in cabinet and on the backbenches have their views sought prior to major plans being announced moving forward. There is a wealth of experience within our parliamentary party which at a time of national crisis should be drawn upon.”
